2006 /07 Award Recipients Presented January 10, 2007
Foundation President John Linn presented awards totalling $75,000 to ten organizations at the annual Foundaiton awards meeting held at the Double Tree Hotel in Livermore. Congratulations to all of our recipients!
Assistance League

 

Assistance League of Amador Valley: Operation School Bell:  $10,000
Funding of literacy and self-esteem project. Addresses the educational and clothing needs of tri-valley children.

dictionaries
Livermore Valley Joint Unified : Dictionaries for Young Scholars $5,000 for two years

To provide, annually, dictionaries designed for ages  8-12 to about 1,100 Livermore public schools 3rd grade students, many of whom do not have English as their first language, and their approximately 60  teachers, for each of the next three years.
Granada High School
Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District
Granada High School industrial Technology Department: Electronics Laboratory Upgrade Phase I: $5,200

To upgrade the electronic lab at Granada. In addition, it will provide the teacher with many of the tools necessary to allow students to use test equipment that is representative of what is currently in use in the industry.
Fitness Day
Valley Care Health System: Fitness Celebration:  $3,500
To sponsor the Annual Fitness Celebration, an event, which raises funds for the Healthy Kids PE programs in elementary schools in the Tri-Valley.  It helps to increase awareness of and participation in activities that promote a healthier lifestyle.
Las Positas
Las Positas College: Disabled Persons Pool Lift for new LPC Aquatic Center: $7,000

To ensure disabled persons access to the LPC Aquatic Center pools
Health Access
City of Livermore: Community Children’s Health Access Program: $10,000 ($5,000 for two years)
This project will allow students who are underinsured or uninsured to receive check-ups with local doctors, optometrists and dentists, as well as important follow-up visits.
Open Heart Kitchen

Open Heart Kitchen of Livermore, Inc.: Hot Meals Program: $10,000
Sponsor approximately 6,700 hot meals which will feed 555 children a hot meal each month for one year

Migrant Families
Livermore Adult Community Education: Community Based EnglishTutoring/Migrant Ed Preschool: $13,000
To purchase one of four portables slated to be  removed from Marilyn Avenue School.  The ability to  School.  The ability to purchase these portables will allow the programs and services to remain at the location where they are most needed.
San Francisco Opera Guild
San Francisco Opera Guild Opera ả la Carte Program: $5,800
To cover the costs of providing 4 performances of this year’s Opera ả la Carte music education programs, The Barber of Seville, in 4 Livermore schools during the fall of 2006. Also specifically reserve priority tickets for 120 Livermore students, and 20 adult chaperones to attend San Francisco Opera’s full  dress rehearsal  The Barber of Seville in the War Memorial Opera House on October  28, 2006.

Pediatric Dental CAre

Livermore Community Dental Care:
Funding for extensive dental work on underprivileged local school children: $5,000


LCDC is in the process of annually screening and educating K-5 Livermore children with pro bono dental care to those who cannot obtain it for a variety of reasons.  This grant will primarily be used to cover the costs of a dental anesthesiologist at an hour of  their cost of $800 so appropriate care can be given by (usually) the pediatric dental specialist
